Tradition.

Playing catch-up with the photos.
It is a tradition at a funeral to have floral tributes. We went for just the one from the family, we used flowers from our garden and family gardens and my Auntie Pat and I arranged this for him to have on his coffin.

It was a good send off with his friends coming from far and wide which gave us a lot of comfort. Rest in peace now Rich, free from pain.

Thank you so much for all your support, I won't forget it and have gained much comfort from it.

Powerful.

A single day in our lives can be so powerful in little and big ways.

Today I was struck by the power the internet has had to inspire 'the youth'.

My niece who lives with me is 14 and pretty obsessed with hair and make-up as she should be, but she also takes an interest in the world around her, has a pretty good grasp of the way the world works and doesn't. She was inspired by the Kony 'campaign', took the time to tell us about it and link us up to it. She was thrilled today when we were out to see one of the posters and grabbed my phone to take this snap.
Google it, if you haven't already, it's interesting and controversial, but it has inspired 'the youth' which cannot be a bad thing.
She is already making changes at a small level by standing for and being unanimously voted onto school council and has already made changes for the better for her peers (ok, it's only new benches and menu changes) but she is learning that you can influence the world around you for the better and you should use your voice.

My youngest Ali moved me in a no less powerful way through an image. He knows I am sad about my brother and he had been a bit silly earlier and we fell out. He isn't brilliant at saying sorry with words but by gum he got me right the way through when he presented me with this picture he drew for me to express it brilliantly.

Powerful stuff indeed. Great prompt to get me to notice it Suzie :)

Oh and on a lighter note, I would agree with his artistic interpretation of my tummy, but I don't agree with his interpretation of my right leg :)

Tower.

This is the mast tower that is on the top of the hill in the very distant and very faint, in fact you will have to trust me!. In front you can just see a fat pigeon settling down to roost in the tree!

Cross.

I'm cross that I crossed myself! I was cleaning our diary whiteboard in the office today and managed to scrape my arm across the metal pen shelf. I didn't really notice it at the time as I was on pain killers for *Time Of The Month* but now it is stinging! More pain relief and bed I think.

Symbolic.

A bit rambly tonight i’m afraid. I chose this photo of one of our arum lillies. I love this plant, it is my second favourite in our garden. It is symbolic as we used loads for dad’s floral wreath at his funeral last year and we will do the same for Rich’s funeral on thursday. They both appreciated the garden but weren’t gardeners, they both often mentioned how lovely these are.

Precious.

Poor little Minty has had to have antibiotics for a hacky-cough. We were worried about her, I guess she is quite precious.

Flag.

Well it would have helped if the flag was flying! On top of the four corner poles is a metal pennant style affair which is sort of there although you can't see them from this shot. Quite happy with the sunset shining on the clock so it'll do :)

Small and cute little flower that we recently bought, just coming out.

Entrance.

The lovely entrance to the churchyard that we often walk around. That's Ali in there waiting and Minty my dog waiting!

Tree.

Today.
I have found one from a couple of weeks ago on the 1st April....already changed so much.

Alive.

We have decided to take a photo diary of the weather when we walk the dogs in the evening. I might add it in here after the main photo prompt photo.

Petal

The walls were closing in, the dogs still needed walking and Ali needed a bit of normal, so we climbed one of our cliffs, right to the top.

Shocking.

How apt a prompt, we were called to the hospital very early this morning and my brother died soon after we got there. It was shocking, but not really a surprise. I mentioned a couple of posts ago he really was very poorly.
I love this photo of him as a little boy. I loved him very much.
I wasn't sure whether to post or not, but I am a great believer in do what feels right (which I have been telling the kids all day so better practice myself) and it feels ok. I hope it feels ok with you guys too.

Elegant.

Ooo this plant is a gorgeous specimen of elegance. Lovely tall stem and spread, range of leaf, delicate flowers, it can't possibly be mine lol. That's right it isn't! It caught our eye at the garden centre and we were sorely tempted, but we have enough gorgeous white April and May blooming white plants that we couldn't justify it. Maybe next year?

Clutter.

Well of course there is no clutter in my house. No clutter in this tiny 3 bed terrace that has 1 Nan, 1 Mum, 1 Teenage Girl, 1 Pre-teen boy, 1 7 year old boy, 1 mental terrier and 1 lazy terrier. Every bit of the house is tidy, clean, organised, except for this tiny bit in my room that has built up on top of my really useful boxes. Maybe it would have just been easier to show you the facade of the house lest I become the protagonist in some wierd channel 4 programme of hoarders!

Gentle.

Oh my goodness, I love this prompt word. It feels like everything my family or I need right now…what photo am I going to use?
I don’t think I took one today what with all the dealings of going to work and hospital visiting…..i’ll go and have a look at my photo stream. No I didn’t so I just have….it’s of my memory foam pillow. I know-yawn-right!!! but it has eliminated my neck pain completely Smile

I can’t glam it up…it just is a crappy photo of my pillow! It is gentle to me though Smile

Lots & Lots.

I’m having a wierdy time. My brother is poorly in hospital and really not very well. I won’t go into details but he is very poorly so please excuse me if I am as rubbish as I have been the last couple of weeks and don’t post on time every day. It is a shame as I so love this project.
Anyway, Lots & Lots. It has to be this photo as it is the only one I took Smile

Girly.

These are the selection of rings and earrings I bought in Primarche to wear on easter dress up day on thursday. They are really girly and I would never wear them as I am not girly.....so secretly I really enjoyed it! I think they will end up being scrapping fodder but maybe the odd one could liven up my non-girly outfits this summer....

Pastel.

Humphrey wasn't to my taste at the time Ali was given him as a baby, I think it was because he was everywhere. As the years have gone on though I have become very fond of him. I think he is too little and 'lame' for Ali :)....and maybe too pastel?!

He sits somewhere in my room now and we are both happy about that, I think, his hair has been like that for a while!

What is that.

S'me dressed up for easter fun at work, the theme was inevitably easter, flowers, bunnies etc.
I used copics and rock candy stickles to bling it up :D

Noisy.

I posted on Saturday the game that Ali (Thing Two) is obsessing over, Moshi Monsters.
Things have taken a turn for the more obsessive today....he is sporting a new pair of Moshi Monster pyjamas and when I went to the bathroom earlier I found this on the window-sill.
The Moshi Monster card with his ticks for the ones he has collected propped up against the window with the band on the (baby-wipe) stage and the Moshi audience (should that be the mosh-pit :) ) enjoying the gig. See the band, that is drum, I bet you can guess which one that is! The other green sparkly one next to drum is dustbin beaver....yeah that's right a Moshi tribute to Justin Bieber. Oh and he is really rare. Ali nearly had a fit when he found him in his pack!

I wonder how noisy this gig is, I couldn't hear it, but then i'm not 7.

I think we might need to get him out more. Maybe me too.

Teeny-tiny.

I snapped this at work as a training need for my duty managers as they had failed to notice this pathetic display and remove it. I’m sure our customers were impressed as they walked in to my store and saw this!

It’s a teeny-tiny display Open-mouthed smile

Sorry about the exciting post, but this has mainly what I have been up against this last few days! And keeping me from doing more creative things! I haven’t had the glue out for nearly a fortnight Sad smile

Childhood.

Joy in the simple things and a disconnection from grown-up worries is what I have learned about childhood through being one and raising my sons.

Here is Thing One and Thing Two enjoying the age old game of making toilet noises with your arm and armpit Smile Why would I have wanted girls?

Costume.

Costume……drama - it’s another tenuous link!

I have been so overloaded again that I didn’t have time to check email, blogs etc even with my fabby phone Sad smile So I had no clue what the prompt was!

So this was the photo I took today for evidence of a lorry driver driving into the control box for the back gate in my store, damaging the hardware and dragging all the wires out!
