Same….but different…introducing Cinders.

Good grief, when Anne (kindly) messaged me this morning with the prompt I was perturbed. What could I use, what boring pile of produce could I use, what on earth? But tonight, getting home and seeing all your wonderful interpretations hello Clemmie, Hudson, Kermie, Moomin, Bendy Wizard etc. They are all fabulous and I was inspired to look for Cinders.

You remember the Tree of Life sampler that my Granny made me that I showed the other day. Well she was a really talented seamstress and for her three granddaughters she made a Cinderella Ragdoll. Mine was inspirationally named Cinders.

Here is mine, I absolutely Red heart this doll. If I had taken a sharp shot you would see her imperfections from years of me playing with her. (Hence a fuzzy shot Smile) A clear memory of my Granny coming to stay is me playing with her with Granny and Mum apologising to Granny that she wasn’t pristine anymore. My Granny said “Well, I’m so happy she is playing with her. I didn’t make her to keep in a box”.

Her beautiful ruffle is hanging off. Granny had to make her a second wig (the first was paler and softer) and she repaired her necklace umpteen times for me. She definitely could do with a Granny makeover now as both boys (for gawd’s sake don’t repeat this to their friends) adored her too.

I look forward to finding things for her to do or places for her to be this week. Inspired idea Suzie Smile

And why did my boys (who are very boyish) enjoy playing with her so much? Well she has a secret and i’ll show you this week Smile

So for day one she is holding the card she helped me make tonight. My Mum is going to her friend’s daughter’s wedding tomorrow and asked me to make her a card which I forgot all week. I am better on a deadline Smile

Face.

This post today is brought to you by Bindweed Elffrost.

So who or what is Bindweed Elffrost?

She is cheerful and friendly.

She lives at the bottom of tangled gardens and in hedgerows.

She can only be seen during the first snow of winter.

She wears tangled multicoloured skirts made of petals and has transparent green wings like a cicada.

Bravo Borqna for having the Fairy Name Generator on your blog and well done Anne for spotting it.

Here are the faces lurking around the place this afternoon generally making the place look untidy.

Earth Tones.

As The Grinch would say (and I have been channeling The Grinch today at work Ninja) I puzzled and puzzled until my puzzler was sore today!

I thought I would take a photo of this, then that, then discarded one idea after another until I have run out of time!

So in heroic fashion for the sake of the challenge, I scrambled up onto the toilet and hung out the window to take this shot of the garden and then added an earth tone layer in photoshop.

So that’s made for a drab photo Open-mouthed smile To be fair it wasn’t much better before what with us finally getting the rain in a thunderstorm that most of you have been enduring for the past few days!

Oh and KathiJo, I have finally worked out how to take a snapshot on my laptop, so here is where I live and how far we are from the sea Smile

The red pin is me and randomly I don’t know why it is showing but the purple pin is the theatre! Although the purple pin is quite useful as that is where we get to sea first generally.

Antique.

I don’t believe I have any antiques. I have had this for a while now though. My Granny stitched it for me when I was a little girl. A Tree of Life. I have always loved it and has always hung in my bedroom. It is a childish pattern but I still love it. I also didn’t appear to be able to get things in focus yesterday, neither on the phone or in my eyes so went to bed early without opening the laptop-rare!

Aged.

So many, many things to take photos of for this prompt! Anne has been so kind to message me the prompt each morning as I don’t always get it until the evening when at work, but I also had a text from my Mum to say that she saw the word today was Aged…..well i’ll just show it to you.

IMG_1255

I have sent her a couple of links so she may be following now……maybe she will join in?

She may have thought she had aged somewhat this evening as I announced I was going. to. cook. Unheard of on a monday, I would rather have a sandwich than bother cooking but I had the urge.

I don’t get home until 6:30 at the earliest usually so I made a special effort to get home at 6pm, funny the shop is still standing, or at least I think it is.

By the time I had got changed and got the radio on and the ingredients out, chatted to Ali about his Teddy Bears Picnic that he went on today and watched the video that Mum kindly took on the ipad it was 6:30 anyway. Heigh-ho.

I offered her a wagon wheel at 7:15pm as it wasn’t quite there. Declined Open-mouthed smile

She snaffled some peanut butter that I was using to make the satay at 7:45pm and we finally sat down at 8pm Rolling on the floor laughing

It was nice though and it was Springwatch time as well so we got to catch up on all the poor birdies after the terrible weather.

Here is the start of the satay. Man did it smell good.

The ironic thing, the recipes were from Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals Open-mouthed smile Night x

Frayed.

Oh my goodness yes, I have a good one for this prompt today Smile
Although I have to say that I was exhausted this morning, even after 9 hours sleep, (it has been a long few weeks!), I knew that if we got out and about we would all feel better for it. So after popping in to my local craft shop we headed out to Hartland for some rockpooling and a picnic. It’s where my Granny and Grandad and all my great-grandparents are buried as well so we took some flowers from the garden mixed with some bought freesias which were my Granny’s favourite (I didn’t know that until today, or at least if I had I had forgotten!).

This is down at Hartland Quay, looking east towards where we live.

Ze very big cliff!

Looking west towards North Cornwall, just look at that sea, such a lovely set of colours.
IMG_4177
Grassy banks and boys! Although I didn’t indulge in the rolling we did all lie down on the grass and do some cloudwatching, I was so in the moment and conscious of not having the camera in hand all the time so I didn’t snap some of the lovely things we saw in the clouds, but they included a stegosaurus, dragon, cup and saucer, dolphin and swordfish Smile

I love how Louis’ hair is the colour of sand, I have always loved that about him.

And finally, my hair, frayed.

KathiJo, I haven't forgotten you, I think tomorrow I can show you just how close we live to the sea :) Can't be more than 5 minutes. Yes, I am very lucky and very grateful :)
