Through a window.

Paintballing today. Louis couldn't have his treat on his birthday so we had it today. 4 x 12 year olds in a small car with me? Noisy. They seem to all say a statement and then not respond to each other and so they just repeat it until they are so loud I could no longer think clearly 📢
Anyway, they had a great time, they are fed and watered and are now watching movies in the lounge and I am upstairs with a cold compress :D
So through his window…..



…in his safety goggles, he didn't see at least one paintball coming as he has quite a bruise and lump on his arm :D

Thriving.

Ali's foot certainly seems to be thriving, how on earth did it get to be so big?

They will be in school shoes this time next week though. Last few days to enjoy the freedom :)

Slow.

I had a strange journey today. I drove for an hour and a half to Honiton through torrential rain and flash flooding for 10 miles between Cullompton and Honiton was dreadful, a couple of places, I was a bit worried about the poor car! I went to Honiton to sit my licensing exam to be a premises licence holder. The Tesco examiner for the south west works as a manager in Honiton hence the trek. Well it took 10 minutes as it was 40 multiple choice questions

Really what a palaver for that! Fortunately the flash flooding had passed by the time I drove back and was just ordinary tipping down rain!

I pulled over and took a photo at the top of the hill as the clouds were luminous. I don’t know whether it was because of the cloud overhead being so dark that they looked so pure white but they were shining.

Not a very good photo of it but I include it as it will remind me of it.

I did take these as I was driving, which is naughty, but I was going very slowly and there was no other cars.

So that is my slow, driving speed through flood water!

Now that has all gone, look at the view of the sky from my desk is now.

It is a good job I like most types of weather. However, it wasn’t even remotely as bad as those poor folk in Louisiana have it at the moment, so i’ll stop complaining.

Textured.

Well I have been scrapping and sorting out today. The sorting is of the laptop. My Mum had a laptop before her iPad and she much prefers her iPad so she has kindly lent me her laptop for a while as I save for a new one. I stupidly let a friend fix the laptop last time, so of course my insurance will be invalid. Lesson painfully learned. So I have been setting it up, reloading passwords etc.

I have been AWOL i’m afraid as I had the following issues:

Louis’ 12th Birthday and sleepover; Lost purse; Family BBQ; Cleaning; Broken Laptop ; busy time.

So apologies, it has been a great but worrying weekend.

Today I spent a peaceful couple of hours making layouts and it really helped me chill out.

Family BBQ today in Okehampton on the edge of Dartmoor. A beautiful, perfect journey down for the views, perfect puffy white clouds, bright blue sky, deep and every shade of vibrant green fields and hedges.
A lovely happy time with family.

Auntie Ada came, she was 90 a few weeks ago.
Seren was there, she just turned 1.

School uniform buying day. Gah.
Wierdly after a lot of banter between Louis and I. He wants cool shoes, I want (and the school want) him to have sensible shoes.
We were in M&S choosing trousers and as we found a couple of pairs in his size (lots of happy dancing as he is stocky and short!) he turned around and said ‘I like those shoes’….I nearly fainted, shoved them on his feet and we declared ourselves both happy!
The story took a funny turn as I made him try the trousers, he didn’t want to, I made him come out of the changing room to show me so I could check. We were both happy, he went back into the changing room to change back and some man had taken his changing room! We had to wait for him to come out
Anyway here are the innocuous items that caused such a drama before they were found and such happiness after!

Another Back To School Job done!

Irregular.

Well a crocodile sashaying down the high street is fairly irregular…..

Carnival time in case you were in any doubt..

It wasn’t too bad this year and Ali and I had a nice walk down to the harbour after to walk past the carnival on our way home as it wends it’s way to the end.

I can tell you that the drunkenness of the rugby club men had gotten so much worse by the time we saw them a second time. And the Lion from The Wizard of Oz, played admirably by a toddler was still running everywhere with the rest of the cast chasing him.

A lot of Olympic/Jubilee themed floats and acts, but this one was just fab, lots of work and cleverness I think to represent the Opening Ceremony.

Full of admiration for the little fella with the cloud above his head, he was still going well at the harbour!

We scooted down Fore Street top avoid the crowds on the way down to the harbour, you can see Ali’s flourescent windmill in his right hand.

A lovely evening.

Star.

We drove to Portsmouth today to collect Louis from his Dad.

We decided to go to Southsea Castle area to let Ali burn off some energy, have our picnic and wallow in nostalgia of my happy times I spent in Portsmouth. It was awful at the end, hence leaving, and i’m not a bit sorry I did but I did have many happy years there too.

After we had our picnic and a thousand cuddles with Louis, we went into the fun pools and the boys and I had a splashy couple of hours, before we headed back.

I tried to get a straight shot of my produce guys but they defeated me with their mucking about.

I think I prefer them mucking about though!

I haven’t much to say today, I feel a bit circular as I have things going round in my head and I am at the end of the first week of my diet to help me be less circular.

This week Ali and I are watching the Shrek films again Love them, they do not get old!

Here is the trusty gang working together to overcome evil.

We also went swimming today, Ali bowled me over by doing roly polies in the water without being shown or asked. He just did them! So today my friend Angela went in the pool with him and her son Jamie whilst I caught it on film before I got in.

I had truly forgotten how much I love swimming. It’s been our favourite thing this summer.

I knew it would have to be a photo of the scrapping as I didn’t seem to do much else apart from work.
